Dunstable Churches Together (DCT) has been in existence for about 40 years. Its main benefit is that many of the congregations of the town now come together for specific events. These include the monthly Prayer Meetings, The Good Friday Walk of Witness, Lent Courses, the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, One World Week, Christian Aid Week and Lighting the Christmas tree.
Over the years, with the support of all the churches in its membership, DCT has organised the “Good Society” meetings, at the Dunstable Fire Station. This initiative has supported the Street Pastors and established The Dunstable Food Bank.
Several Conferences have resulted from these meetings, in which we have discussed how, as Christians, we should respond to local issues. We are grateful our local MP, Andrew Selous, who has been involved in many of these activities.
The history of DCT shows that it is much easier to be ecumenical when there is something to be ecumenical about.
